When Monet hit London

Lines written after visiting “Monet in London”

When Monet sought a painting revolution
He saw smog filled London as a solution
After one look at the evening sky
Pollution he thought looked good to the eye
He knew from his misty view of Waterloo
The smog grey bridge was really blue

Colours were not their obvious sheen
It depends on how they were seen
Especially by Monet in a lucid dream
What was cool was not the bridge as seen
But the curtains of mist that lay in between

His genius made him enough money to enjoy
Painting the Thames from the top of the Savoy

Call it Monetisation or what you will
It’s a just reward for a unique skill
We all know as we get a little olderj
That beauty’s in the eye of the beholder

And with Monet’s well known sense of humour
He must be pleased the Clean Air Act didn’t come sooner.
